Alphabet Tracing and Scissor Skills for Ages 3–6

Fine motor before handwriting
Before children write neatly, they need strong little hand muscles. Cutting, gluing and tracing all build that strength in a playful way.
A simple routine
Start with big, simple shapes to cut. Then move to tracing one letter at a time, saying its sound out loud. Finish with a cut-and-glue page that matches pictures to letters.
Keep it short and happy
Ten minutes is plenty for ages 3–6. Stop while it is still fun, and praise effort rather than perfect lines.
